Best Fish Fry in the Capital Region
Lent started yesterday and as a Catholic, that means I have to remember on Fridays to not to eat meat. One of my favorite ways to do that is with fish fry (according to Catholics, fish doesn't count as meat during Lent). We have so many in the Capital Region, I need to find the best!
I took a look at the list at New York Upstate and they named a bunch of great fish fry places in the area but what I want to know is who has the best. Here's the list they gave, how would you rank it? Are there any places that serve fish fry that they missed?
Ted's Fish Fry - they've been around since 1949 and there's a reason why because they're usually at the top of the list when it comes to fish fry around here. You can find them all over, in Albany (203 Wolf Rd), Watervliet (447 3rd Ave), Troy (700 Hoosick St/ 350 2nd Ave), and Latham (636 New Loudon Rd).
Gene's Fish Fry (Rensselaer) - another long-standing fish fry location, open since 1961, the only issue is that it doesn't help me for Lent because they're a seasonal place open May-August but still apparently a great place to check out.
Those were the first two they mentioned, they also listed: Off Shore Pier (Rensselaer), Matt's Cape House (Clifton Park), Harbor House (Clifton Park), Reel Seafood Company (Albany), The Local (Saratoga Springs), Jumpin Jack's Drive-In (Scotia), Anker's Fish & Chicken House (Schenectady), and Fin-- Your Fishmonger (Guilderland).
Note: not all of these places are currently open but will open at some point throughout the Lenten season/Spring
