Attempted Murder Charge in Tupper Lake

A Tupper Lake man is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, after New York State Police say he intentionally struck another man with a vehicle and fled the scene.

What led to this violent encounter in the Adirondacks? Police are still investigating.

According to State Police, troopers responded to 2 Lindsay Avenue in the village of Tupper Lake on February 11th, at approximately 7:50 p.m., for reports that a male had been hit by a motor vehicle intentionally.

37-Year-Old Man Treated and Released

Emergency crews arrived and transported the victim, identified as 37-year-old Eric Snyder of Tupper Lake, to Adirondack Medical Center.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Snyder was later transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for additional treatment. Thankfully, local authorities say he has since been treated and released.

Man ID'd; Truck Abandoned but Found

Investigators determined the vehicle involved was a 2021 Dodge pickup truck. Police identified the operator as 47-year-old Matthew Patnode of Tupper Lake. The truck was later located abandoned in a local parking lot.

According to the report, Patnode was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

New York State Police were assisted by the Tupper Lake Police Department. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact State Police at 518-897-2000.
