Amsterdam Waterfront Getting Millions To Rebuild
Millions of dollars will be put into the Amsterdam waterfront that will include apartments, retail space, and a restaurant and banquet facility. The redevelopment of the waterfront will also keep the industrial charm of the area. It will include the former Chalmers Knitting Mills site, and the Lanzi family’s return to the South Side.
According to The Recorder, The Chalmers Knitting Mill site will turn into the "Chalmers Mill Lofts" it will be a multi-purpose building keeping the industrial look of the mill and celebrate the history of Amsterdam. It will house one hundred thirty apartments.
The project will also include the Lanzi family restaurant and banquet facility. The Lanzis are a well known restaurant family in Amsterdam. They proposed "Lanzi Southside", a restaurant and bar serving lunch and dinner and an adjoining 300 person banquet facility.
There is also a plan for a market space, a waterfront boardwalk along with seasonal artisans and food vendors.
