Amazon Looking To Open Capital Region Fulfillment Center
Some of those items you order from the online retail giant could be arriving a lot quicker in the future.
Amazon was revealed as the tenant last night for a new warehouse that is being proposed in Schodack, according to the Times Union. A 100+ acre tract that borders Interstate 90 and Route 9 is being proposed for the retailer's new million square foot fulfillment center. When it was revealed that Amazon was the tenant at a town planning board meeting last night, attendees reacted positively. Yet, some concerns still remain about the environmental impact of the new warehouse.
We may not be getting the new Amazon headquarters here in the Capital Region, but at least this has the potential to create a bunch of jobs, right? The Times Union report says local and state government are going what the can to attract Amazon to this location, with tax breaks set on the county level and possibly from the state as well.
