Wheels Are Turning For New Albany Indoor Skate Park to Open Soon
A popular monthly Skate Albany program created the idea to put a skateboard park inside the Noteworthy Resources community center. But it wouldn't be easy and they still have a lot of work and fundraising to do.
What is Noteworthy Resources?
The non-profit Noteworthy Resources started Skate Albany which began in 2020 as a way for people to meet up and socialize. It turned into a monthly skate along with lessons. So the organization wants to make sure there is a place to go in the winter months. Noteworthy Resources also has support groups, workshops, and events like business seminars, clothing swaps, and self-esteem programs for students inside their new community center.
Where is This Indoor Skate Park Being Built?
The Noteworthy Resources community center is in a warehouse space at 930 Broadway in Albany.
Tatiana Gjergji who is the founder and executive director of Noteworthy Resources didn't think that the warehouse space was big enough to fit an indoor skate park according to the Times Union. But she was determined to find a way. They have begun to build the framework of the skate park that will be called Endure Skate Park. They hope it will be open in mid-October but they need funding.
A Fundraiser is Being Held This Month
They hope to attract investors at the Adopt-A-Ramp Skate Soiree on August 20th. This fundraiser will take place at 930 Broadway in Albany and tickets are $125. There will be live music, food, drinks, and raffles, and it will feature five local artists using recycled material from the skate bowl. They will create their own art that has the theme of endurance to coincide with the new skate park name.
