Albany Could See First Snowflakes This Friday
After a warm stretch of October weather, Albany has cooled off and our forecast is calling for a little snow Friday.
You won't need to gas up the snowblower later this week or get your snow boots out, but you may feel the need to curse out the weather just a little bit! According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Albany and the Capital Region will probably see the first snowflakes of the season this Friday. The NWS forecast is currently calling for a mix of rain and snow between 5am and 2pm Friday, with more snow possible after 5pm. Precipitation will taper off sometime Friday evening which is probably a good thing, as we will see a low of 26 overnight Friday! At this point, they are not predicting any measurable accumulation.
So, a little snow yes. But a big deal? Not just yet! We have a little time before the flakes really start falling. If you are worried about what Halloween will look like, there is a little bit of good news with this forecast from the NWS: everything should clear up for a sunny Halloween this Saturday with a high around 48.
2020 has certainly but one of the most challenging years ever, but at least Mother Nature is not following the playbook of insanity we have experienced over the last 7 months. A few October snowflakes are nothing compared to what we have gone through this year. But maybe a little reminder for us to prepare and get ready for the challenges winter can present. It is also the opportunity to curse out the weather for the first time of the season. So feel free to drop an F bomb or two directed at the weather as a warm-up for the first big snow of the season when that arrives!
