
Albany Barbie Exhibit Celebrates 64 Years of Fashion and Fun
On the heels of Mattel announcing the release of a Barbie with autism, a new exhibit in the Capital Region is giving fans of all ages a reason to revisit one of the most recognizable toys of all time.
The New York State Museum in Albany is now home to "Barbie: A Cultural Icon Exhibition," a walk through decades of style, trends, and imagination that runs through March 8th.
This exhibit is great whether you grew up changing Barbie outfits on your bedroom floor or you are discovering her world for the first time with your kids or grandkids. More than 300 artifacts are on display, covering 64 years of Barbie history.

That includes the very first doll from 1959, an original Barbie Dreamhouse, and behind-the-scenes prototypes that show how designers dreamed up new looks and careers for her over the years.
Visitors will see vintage dolls, outfits inspired by pop culture moments, and pieces that reflect how fashion and society have changed from one generation to the next. There are also designer interviews woven into the experience, offering a peek into how Barbie continues to evolve and stay relevant.
The exhibit is designed to be interactive and fun, with plenty of spots to take photos and share memories. Whether Barbie was your favorite toy, your child’s current obsession, or simply a familiar face from store shelves, this exhibit invites everyone to step back into childhood for a bit and enjoy the story of a global icon.
