This is an ongoing situation and will be for a long time all thanks to Tropical Storm Irene. I did a blog about a pumpkin shortage in the Albany area, and my good friend Cait McVey from Fox 23 News had a story about some of the local farms that were devastated, which I also passed on to you. Now here’s a chance to help out the farmers and have a great time doing it. This Saturday (September 24), there’s going to be a fundraiser for the farmers called “Goodnight Irene! Eastern N.Y. Farm Aid 2011.” It will be at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds on Route 40 and 67.

Your donation of $10 dollars per car load will lead you to enjoy a full day of family fun and entertainment, starting at 1:00 p.m. There will be plenty for the kids to do, including a petting zoo. There will be vendors, raffles and an auction. They’re also going to have a huge Zumba class. Hopefully, we’ll have nice weather, since this will be going on rain or shine.

Now here’s the part where yours truly comes in – Frank from The Back 40 Band told me about the event and asked if I could help out. Of course, I said yes. I will be there in the evening. They will be performing on stage at 7:00 p.m. It will be my pleasure to help out. Why don’t you pack up the car and join us?
