After Rehab, Pair of Orphaned Cubs Released into ADK Wild
Orphaned Cubs Brought to Rehab Center
This Adirondack wildlife rescue story makes you appreciate all the hard-working, selfless animal lovers throughout Upstate New York and beyond.
According to the NYS DEC, a pair of black bear cubs, orphaned by their mom, were brought to the Friends of Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center in Greene County because of "poor body condition and malnourishment."
Cold and Alone
Cold and alone, the orphaned cubs would not have survived the harsh winter had they not been spotted and taken in for rehab in Hunter, NY.
In a Facebook post, the Wildlife Center wrote: "Both bears were placed into the rehab facility because of poor body condition and malnourishment, due to being orphaned.
While at rehab, both bears gained sufficient weight and were given a clean bill of health to be released!"
"It was a long cold winter for these two black bear yearlings that came to us this year. Emaciated and weak coming out of the winter, they would not have made it if they were not spotted and brought FFF for help. They are back to health and were released to their wild home with help from NYS DEC." Friends of Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center

New Lease on Life
According to the New York State DEC, the two cubs were released back into the Adirondack region over the weekend.
It should be known that The Friends of Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center, in Hunter, NY, receives no government funding and relies on donations. Buying medications and supplies, not to mention the expense of feeding hungry bear cubs, is quite costly.
