Hiking is a great way to get out in nature for the summer but the problem is that a lot of people go to the same few trails in the area. If you're looking for nature that will actually be relaxing and give you some peace and quiet, here are a few to choose from.

According to New York Upstate, "the most crowded areas in the Adirondack Forest Preserve are the Eastern High Peaks Wilderness, Giant Mountain and the Dix Mountains." I'm sure they're beautiful but when I go hiking, I don't want to be surrounded by a ton of people, I want some time to be with nature. "The state Department of Environmental Conservation has come up with 13 hikes that provide plenty of great views and fewer people."

Most of these areas are nearby and from most, you'll be able to get views of any or all of  Lake Champlain, Lake Placid, the Green Mountains of Vermont, Hurricane Mountain, or even the Boquet River Valley.

  1. Rocky Peak Ridge
  2. Whiteface Mountain
  3. Owl Head Lookout
  4. Poke-O-Moonshine Mountain
  5. Catamount Mountain
  6. Baxter Mountain
  7. The Crows
  8. Bear Den Mountain
  9. Silver Lake Mountain
  10. Whiteface Landing
  11. Copperas and Owen Ponds
  12. Cobble Lookout
  13. Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails

Have you been to any of these areas? Are they anymore you'd add?
