For over fifty years this women's clothing store has been around and now they've announced they will close all of their stores across the country. This includes two in the Capital Region. It was announced Monday that Dressbarn will be closing six hundred fifty stores across the country. Two of those stores are in our area. According to NBCnews.com, their parent company, Ascena Retail Group, said that Dressbarn has not been operating at a profitable level for quite some time. The company also carries Ann Taylor and Lou & Grey, said that closing these stores would strengthen the company overall.

Dressbarn has been around for over fifty years and has had a hard time competing with Amazon, Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. It also sited online shopping as a major competitor.

There are two Dressbarn locations that will be closing. There is one on Central Ave. in the Northway Mall Plaza in Colonie and the other is in Lake George at the Adirondack Mall.

The company has not released any dates of store closures yet.
