Why Stewart’s Isn’t Selling Their Award-Winning Mint Cookie Crumble
No More Mint Cookie Crumble
Most of us in Upstate New York have a strong connection, albeit nostalgic or otherwise, to one or more of the Capital Region's Stewart's Shops.
And when they make a change to something like their award-winning ice cream, especially when the weather starts to get a bit nicer, people take notice.
Stewart's Shops of the Capital Region have announced a change to their award-winning Mint Cookie Crumble Ice Cream.
What's the Scoop with Mint Cookie Crumble?
One of your favorite Stewart's ice cream flavors is undergoing a slight seasonal transformation, and although the name may change, it will remain available.
Take a deep breath.
Mint Cookie Crumble Ice Cream at Stewart's, a longtime Capital Region favorite and the # 1 ranked mint ice cream at the 2024 World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin, will now be known as Bel-Mint Stakes at the 175 Stewart's of the Capital Region.
The name was chosen from an online poll held in March.
According to Stewart's Shops, the new name goes into effect immediately through June 8th in honor of the 157th running of the Grade 1, $2 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets at the historic Saratoga Race Course.

Temporary Move to Saratoga
In 2023, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the 2024 Belmont Stakes would be held on Saturday, June 8, at Saratoga Race Course due to ongoing construction and renovations at Belmont Park.
In March 2024, the New York Racing Association announced that the 2025 Belmont Stakes would also be held at Saratoga, with the big race scheduled for June 8, 2025.
So there you have it. It's not going away; your favorite ice cream has a temporary new name: Bel-Mint Stakes.
Sometimes, that's just the way the mint cookie crumbles.
