Windsor Construction Company Has Been Trying to Develop the Site For Years

Back in 2014, the company wanted to redevelop the old Kmart at the Shoppers Plaza and turn it into a two-hundred-unit apartment complex. In 2015, the Town of Clifton Park zoning laws changed and they pulled the proposal. Then in 2018, they resubmitted plans for a one-hundred-unit apartment complex. Last summer, the company resubmitted an application for site approval according to the Albany Business Review.

What is Approved by the Town of Clifton Park Planning Board?

Windsor Construction Company would demolish the old Kmart and build one hundred apartments. Two four-story buildings would house one hundred luxury apartments on the thirteen acres. There would also be a covered parking area, a pocket park that the public can use, rooftop terraces, a dog run, and other amenities for its residents.

The Shoppers World Plaza anchor store is a Price Chopper Market 32 which would be ideal for those who live in the apartment complex.

What About the Impact on Traffic and Shenendehowa Schools?

Planners say that there would be less traffic during peak hours than there ever was when Kmart was open. The apartments would also have a limited impact on enrollment at the Shenendehowa Schools. They estimate that about seven additional students that would attend.
