It was snowing pretty hard on Monday night. Although bears live outside, maybe this one wanted to come in and get warm. He almost did. The giant black bear made its way onto the porch of a home during last night's snow storm, coming right up to the sliding glass doors.

He pokes around on the deck for a little bit, exploring what might be a bird feeder, since bears are attracted to those.

The guy taking the video gets closer to the sliding glass door and makes a little bit of noise, which seems to spook the bear a bit.

He's seen enough and decides to leave.

The homeowner can be heard telling his significant other:

A big ass bear, hun

Eventually, the bear casually walks back into the storm and out of sight.

Over the last couple of weeks, the bears have been waking up from their winter hibernation and have been seen in residential areas. Just two weeks ago a bear wandered up on the porch of a home in Rensselaer County. That encounter was also caught on video.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation offers tips on how to keep bears from approaching your property. First and foremost, remove bird feeders. Second, take trash to the curb shortly before it will be picked up and make sure lids are tightly closed. Third, clean the grease off your grill each time after use.
