The first tweet came at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. "Due to police activity regarding suspicious pkgs., JAX airport has been evacuated. Please check with airline for flight updates."

At approximately 8:10 p.m. officials put a "ground stop" underway at JAX.

According to reports, two unusual packages were found on the airport grounds.  One package was found in a garage, the other in a terminal.

It is unclear at this time what was in the packages, however, the Jacksonville Police Bomb Squad Unit was called to the scene to investigate.

Passengers on incoming flights had been transferred to area hotels for the night.

An airport spokesman said the investigation is ongoing and will take a while.
