Upstate NY Cold Case: What Happened to Kimberly Rouland?
New York State Police are re-engaging the public in an attempt to learn more about who may have killed a 23-year-old mother of 3 back in 2015 in Upstate NY. Police hope that someone seeing this has some information about this 9-year-old "cold case" that remains a New York mystery.
Who Killed Kimberly Rouland?
Police say that back on February 10, 2015, Kimberly A. Rouland, age 32, was reported missing to the New York State Police in SP Lyons by her husband, Thomas Rouland.
State Police say that she was last seen leaving their home in Newark, NY, an Upstate city about 95 miles northwest of Albany.
Sadly, police found her body in a snow embankment about a month later, and just one mile from her home.
Here's what the State Police know about the case that they are sharing with the public:
- Rouland was reported missing by her husband, Thomas Rouland, age 38, who last saw her leaving their residence on Fairville Maple Ridge Road at about 6:30 p.m. on the evening of February 9, 2015.
- Police say she left behind her personal belongings and vehicle.
- She was wearing boots, yoga pants, and a lightweight black coat. Rouland was the subject of a massive search in February 2015.
- On March 12, 2015, Rouland's body was found about a mile from her home, in a snowbank on a steep embankment on Martin Road in the town of Acadia, Wayne County, New York.
- Rouland's death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner. At the time of her death, Rouland left behind her three children, ages 4, 10, and 11.
