You've probably walked passed it a ton of times going to a ton of shows in Downtown Albany but had no idea what it meant or what it was. Guess what? Mystery solved!

Okay, so technically it's not really the "Great Mystery of the Palace Theatre Window," that's what I'm calling it because I've seen it a ton of times and until yesterday had no idea what it was. The window in question is on the Route 32/ North Pearl Street side of the theatre, you may recognize it, it says "J.S. Flood."

The location at one point was a barber shop but the shop had nothing to do with "J.S. Flood." So who was he? Thankfully, the Times Union had the same question.

Apparently, J.S. Flood's full name is Joseph S. Flood who lived with his wife Margaret on South Manning in the 1920's. In 1929, he opened in business on the corner of Central Ave and Quail St (where Subway is now). After some time there, that's when Flood moved his radio and refrigerator business to where the stained glass window is now. By 1933, there was no record of J.S. Flood still occupying the space but the glass window with his name is still there today.
