In an effort to increase tourism in New York state, the governor is offering a free weekend for out of state snowmobilers. Governor Andrew Cuomo is holding a free weekend for out of state snowmobilers on March 14th and March 15th. According to News 10 ABC, the governor is hoping to attract out of state snowmobilers to enjoy the miles of trails here in New York.

In an effort to ramp up winter tourism and increase money for trail maintenance, the fees will be waived during that weekend in March. The New York State Snowmobile Association says that a lack of snow this season has hindered them from getting the ten thousand miles of trails ready.

There are over four point two million dollars in grants for trail maintenance that is funded by the snowmobile registration fees. The free weekend is hoping to attract more out of state snowmobilers to ramp up the fees.
