Saratoga County Winner Claims $3M Lotto Ticket – But Who Was It?
A person or persons from Saratoga County won $3M on Mega Millions back in January but we may never find out who they actually are.
Surely a few people on the outside looking in know who won 3 million dollars during a Mega Millions drawing from the New York Lottery back in January, but if they do, they've more than likely been sworn to secrecy.
That's because the winner(s) won't be going public with their identification, instead adopting a more strategic and tactical approach to their new-found riches. Whoever it was created a secret way to claim the money, without having to deal with the potential headaches associated with it.
The lotto ticket was purchased about an hour south of Albany at Smokes 4 Less!
Yes, that place that we've been telling you about is the luckiest place to buy lottery tickets in the country. In fact, back in January, we wrote about how lucky this place is and that was before we knew the winner was from the Capital Region.

According to the New York Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased in Orange County, at the Smokes 4 Less in Newburgh, located at 59 North Plank Road.
The lucky player matched the first five of the winning numbers, which were 7-13-14-15-18 and Mega Ball 9 and lottery officials said the trust received a lump sum payout totaling just over 3 million dollars.
How Did They Remain Anonymous?
Most times after a big lottery win, you see the winner smiling, holding a big ticket, and answering questions about what they're going to do with the money.
But that didn't happen because these winners set up what's known as a "trust."
Most state lotteries are required to release your name and where you live, but many allow you to maintain some privacy by claiming the proceeds through a trust.
"A trust" can put some space between you and relatives, friends, and strangers who may start glad-handing some of your money!
So, who did win the money?
According to the New York Lottery, the winner was from Ballston Spa, but because they've chosen to remain anonymous, the winner is simply identified as "11102023 Trust" which numerically is January 10, 2023 - the night they won $3M dollars!
How to Remain Anonymous if You Win $1 Billion Mega Millions in NY
We may never find out the actual names of the person(s) who claimed the cash, but if you're hanging around Saratoga County and an old high school classmate of yours suddenly starts showing off their new car, house, and premium table at Saratoga Race Course, ask if it was them.
And see if they "trust" you with the information!
