Public Help Needed – Albany County Sheriff’s K9 Goes Missing!

This release is to notify the public and assist in the swift recovery of the canine. There is no need for alarm and this is not connected to any police operation. Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple posted on social media Monday that a sheriff's K9 has been reported missing, and that the release is to "notify the public and assist in the swift recovery of the canine."
"No need for alarm"
Sheriff Apple is hoping that the public can assist in getting K9 Thompson back to its rightful handler and that there is no need for alarm and "this is not connected to any police operation."
Adding that, "the canine simply got free of its kennel during the night and is missing."
Thompson is friendly, but DO not approach!
Sheriff Apple reminded people that KP Thompson is a friendly dog, but he's a "working, service animal" and should not be approached. He was last seen in the Village of Altamont, and here's what you should know:
- The canine is a black Dutch Shepherd with an Agency collar marked with the words “SHERIFFS K9” in yellow.
- The public is asked to call the Albany County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center at (518) 765-2352 if they have seen this canine since last night or have information as to its current location.
- The K-9 is named "Thompson" but will respond to "Ghost"
