The owner of Wolff's Beirgarten is selling off 3 locations, and rebranding the Troy location.

According to a Times Union story, Wolff's Beirgarten is changing hands. Owner Matt Baumgartner is selling off all the locations in the chain, except for Troy. The Schenectady, Albany and Syracuse locations will keep operating as Wolff's under the new ownership. The Troy location will be renamed the Troy Beer Garden. The Troy location is currently closed and undergoing renovations, and should open under the new name sometime in March. The Times Union says when the Troy Beer Garden opens it will feature a new menu and it will have a focus on "local and regional craft beers," plus the TV's will be removed as the bar moves away from their soccer image.

Wolff's has been a mainstay here in the Capital Region, and we are kind of getting the best of both worlds with this ownership change. The great news is we will still have the Wolff's we know and love in Albany and Schenectady, and it will be exciting to see and experience the new vibe that Matt Baumgartner is putting together at the new Troy Beer Garden. Based on the course we are heading with the pandemic, when it opens in March it could be perfect timing as we will hopefully be getting back to socializing and drinking beers into the wee hours of the morning as we used to do pre-covid. It will be nice to raise a glass to the good 'ol days returning.
