There are certain movies and directors that everyone knows are good. It just so happens that this Oscar winner for Best Director coming to Albany is responsible for checking both of those boxes (a couple of times).

Francis Ford Coppola, famous for such films as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, Bram Stroker's Dracula, and more, will be coming to The Egg in Albany to share the Director's Cut of "The Cotton Club."

The Egg announced that on October 6th, Coppola will be bringing the restored and re-edited film with 25 minutes of completely new footage. The movie, which stars Richard Gere, Diane Lane, and Gregory Hines came out in 1984 and was about the famous Harlem nightclub of the same name.

The Egg will host a screening of what was once called "The Cotton Club Encore" plus a conversation with the screenwriter of the movie, who also happens to be a local author of "Ironweed," William Kennedy. Tickets are on sale now on The Egg's website and proceeds will help support the upcoming Albany Film Festival at UAlbany on Saturday, March 28, 2020.

Coppola put $500,000 of his own money to remaster this movie, according to the Times Union, and you have a chance to see it with him in house in October for just $25.
