One Winner Hits $2B Powerball! Many from Upstate NY Cash in Big!
After an overnight delay, the results of the $2B Powerball were announced on Tuesday morning. One person in CA took the top prize but there were multiple big winners from right here in Upstate NY!
Anticipation was high and so was the payout as most of America waited for the results of Monday night's record-setting $2B Powerball drawing.
A glitch in the Powerball system prevented the numbers from being drawn on Monday, but at around 9 AM Tuesday morning, the results were posted.
The numbers drawn were: 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 + 10.
Initially, when the numbers were posted, lottery officials stated there was NO grand prize winner. They even went as far as promoting the next Powerball jackpot was to exceed $2.5B, but that was rectified as the afternoon went along.
We later found out there was one winner in California, taking home the largest jackpot in US history!
How many Upstate NY winners were there in the $2B Powerball lottery?
According to sources, one winner in Otisville NY took home a prize worth $100,000 and there were 22 New Yorkers won $50,000.
Of the 22 winning tickets, two of those were sold right here in the Capital Region. One $50K ticket was bought in Cobleskill, and the other was purchased in Clifton Park.
Both tickets were sold at Stewart's.
According to the NY Lottery, the odds of hitting a Powerball jackpot is 1 in 292 million.
The odds of winning $1M is 1 in 11 million and the $50K winners had odds of 1 in 900K.
