Not a fan of the big box stores? Niskayuna is getting a new local option for all of your hardware needs.

According to a story from CBS 6, Hatchet Hardware is getting ready to open a new location sometime in December in Niskayuna in the old Morgan Stanley location on Balltown Road. Hatchet currently operates 4 other hardware stores in the Capital Region in Brunswick, Troy, Waterford and Palatine Bridge. A Hatchet representative told CBS 6 they are currently hiring employees for the new store, as well as their other stores.

If you visit the Hatchet website they describe themselves as "...a family-owned hardware store native to upstate New York. We strive to offer goods and services that work to improve every aspect of your life."

The great thing about a store like Hatchet is you can get everything you need for your home, with what I assume will be more personalized, one-on-one customer service. And those who shop will be supporting a locally, run mini-chain. The best part about at a store like this is when you have questions about a project you are trying to tackle, great customer service, and know-how are a real difference-maker. As a do-it-yourselfer, being able to conveniently tap into that know how is super important!
