NFL Champ from Albany Pleads Not Guilty to DWI Yet Told Officers “I’m Drunk!”

Star running back from Albany tells officers "I'm drunk!" before telling them that his phone number was "1-800-S**K-MY-D***!"

A former NFL Super Bowl Champion running back with the New England Patriots, who also had a successful run with the NY Giants and Tennessee Titans,  pleaded not guilty to DWI charges in Guilderland Town Court on Thursday stemming from an incident that took place in Albany last month.

According to News Channel 13, the retired former NFL star was pulled over by Guilderland Police on December 19th when they noticed his vehicle swerving from lane to lane without using a blinker.

When police pulled over the former NE Patriot Super Bowl champion, his breath smelled of alcohol, according to the report, officers testing his sobriety said he was unable to properly recite the alphabet.  But this was only the beginning...

After Lewis was arrested, the former Albany High School and Albany Academy star running back started running something else - his mouth telling officers at the police station “I’m drunk, don’t listen to the drunk guy.”

When Guilderland Police asked him for his number, he responded "1-800-s*** my d***."

According to the police reports, Dion Lews had drinks in Albany on Saturday night December 18th, and shortly after midnite, police saw him driving erratically.

Lewis was arraigned in court on Thursday night and pleaded not guilty to charges of DWI.

Lewis' last stint in the NFL came in 2020 with the Giants, but his peak playing years were back in 2016 and 2017 when he made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances with the Patriots, winning the first one and losing the second.
