Developers are revisiting plans with Clifton Park officials to open a new Sonic location.

I am already dreaming of and drooling over a Sonic Cheeseburger and onion rings writing this. As a Clifton Park resident and a dad in a family that LOVES Sonic, it was a bit of a bummer when plans to open one in my hometown fell through. Now, developers are revisiting those plans in a effort to bring them back to life.

According to a Times Union report,  Sonic is presenting a new plan to town officials tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 11th). The new plan would have the Sonic at the same location that was initially proposed at Town Plaza on Route 146, with new plan calling for a smaller expansion of the parking lot to accommodate drive-in spaces for the restaurant. The Times Union says the original plan fell through when the plaza's landlord and Sonic could not come to terms on drainage improvements that were necessary for the new restaurant. So, maybe this new plan will rectify that issue? If this new plan is approved, the new Sonic could begin construction as soon as April!

So if all goes as planned, Clifton Park residents could maybe see this new Sonic open in the summertime? Only time will tell, but hopefully Clifton Park will have easy access to those onion rings, tots and more ASAP!
