It's finally Halloween and I love, love to make costumes for my kids! In the past I've transformed them into astronauts and eagles, a firefighter, poodle skirt girl, kitty cat, mermaid, elephant, pirate—you name it!

But this year, my 6-year-old, Turner, wanted to be a ninja, and my 10-year-old, Madelyn, wanted to be Little Red Riding Hood.

"Easy," I said! (And it was!) I used stuff I had laying around the house and only spent around $20 for both costumes!

Turner's outfit is a set of thermal underwear that he already had with some red ribbon tied around his legs, arms and waist. I used a Pinterest tutorial on how to tie a regular t-shirt into a ninja mask using an old shirt he had in his drawer! Then, I bought the cool swords! Cause, you know, Halloween! He just wore his black school sneakers.

Madelyn wore black boots and a cream colored dress, both right out of her closet with a red cape from the costume section at Target - $10!  I had the scarf and the baskets just laying around, and used my own makeup. Pigtails and black ribbons in her hair topped it off!
