With the devastation from Hurricane Harvey hitting Texas, the American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to head to the affected areas to help. Our local chapter, the American Red Cross of Eastern NY, is willing to train you. If you want to volunteer, you must be willing and able to serve in the affected areas for a minimum of 14 consecutive days within the next month. Your travel expenses and training costs will be covered by the Red Cross.

You must attend a training boot camp from 9am until 6pm (see schedule below). Training will include orientation and information for new volunteers. There will be a comprehensive overview of the relief operations during large scale disasters. This particular training will focus on sheltering and prepare volunteers to assist people affected in a safe place to help them with a variety of needs.

Due to the high level of interest from last week's training sessions, more boot camps have been added.
