The person contacted the New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation about picking up the carcass. When officials arrived to pick up the deer, it wasn’t there. In the story from the Times Union, it seems that someone may have taken the deer, but what they may not know is that the animal may be infected with rabies, and may actually cause death if they touched the deer.

Health officials from Columbia County are in search of whoever may have taken the deer, and would like them to contact the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department. Their phone number is 518-828-3344.
