Joyce Mitchell  pleaded guilty this morning for her role in the escape of two prisoners from Dannemora Prison.

Joyce Mitchell appeared in court this morning to face charges on her involvement in the escape of two prisoners, Richard Matt and David Sweat, from Dannemora Prison. Her lawyer hoped to agree to a plea deal and it looks like that happened.

Mitchell plead guilty this morning to providing hacksaw blades, chisels, a punch tool and a screwdriver to the inmates. Her bail has been set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. Mitchell will face up to 7 years in prison.  As part of the plea deal, she has to relinquish her teaching certificates and continue to cooperate in the investigation.

Sentencing will be held in September.
Mitchell also agreed to be the getaway driver for Matt & Sweat, but changed her mind at the last minute. Authorities say she was able to smuggle the tool to the men in frozen meat.
