In Rotterdam Junction, The Bridge Over The Mohawk River Is Finally Open
The bridge that carries traffic from Route 5 to Route 5S in Rotterdam Junction was destroyed this past summer as a result of Tropical Storms Irene and Lee. After several months of being closed, it has now opened.
In a story from the Times Union, the bridge opened two weeks earlier than scheduled. The reopened bridge, which is part of route 103, will make many people’s commute in the area, as well as traffic to the local businesses, a lot easier and shorter.
There will be a little more paving work to be done, but that won’t be until spring. It sounds like some people in the Rotterdam Junction area might consider this an early Christmas present. I feel happy for all the people that can finally use the bridge.
