Last year, Lake George's Million Dollar Beach was closed for most of the season due to high levels of sewage in the water. The Governor has announced that they are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure that beach will remain open and be safe for swimming. In a press release by Governor Andrew Cuomo's office yesterday, it was announced that a $343,000 grant will be given to the town of Lake George to improve, repair and upgrade the sewer infrastructure. This, in turn, will protect the water quality of Lake George.

Last summer, one of the most popular beaches in Lake George, Million Dollar Beach, was frequently shut down due to sewage seeping into the lake. With the grant, the town will repair the lines to help overflowing and leakage into the lake. They will also replace pipes if necessary.

Million Dollar Beach is open now through Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty and swimming is permitted only when the water is above 65 degrees.
