There is always a need for volunteer firefighters. These are the brave men and women who are ready at a moment's notice to volunteer to help their communities while running toward a fire. New York has received a significant grant to help recruit more volunteer firefighters.

They fought (or are currently fighting) for our country and can't afford school. That's not fair, so one local school is looking to help as many service men and women as they can get an education.

Governor Cuomo has granted four point five million dollars to animal shelters across New York state. A half million dollars went to a local shelter to improve and build their facility.

I love that the Albany International Airport is small enough to be convenient and big enough to fly to many destinations that I love. But the roadway getting to the airport and has always been a major concern. Well help is on the way in the form of millions of dollars.

School supplies can be expensive, not only for families but also for teachers. Many parents can't afford to buy all of the tools needed for their kids at school. Now a local school is taking that burden away without costing taxpayers more.

Last year, Lake George's Million Dollar Beach was closed for most of the season due to high levels of sewage in the water. The Governor has announced that they are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure that beach will remain open and be safe for swimming.

The Governor has announced significant funding to make more local farm foods accessible to Capital Region schools.
