Hollywood Movie Coming to Schenectady

The city of Schenectady is going to be the set for an upcoming Hollywood movie starring Ryan Gosling.In case you're unsure as to who Ryan Gosling, he is none other than the fabulous star of the "The Notebook" -- the best chick flick ever!  And for all you guys who have yet to be subjected to that movie, he was also in "Blue Valentine" and "Lars and the Real Girl."

Don Rittner, head of the city’s film commission, confirmed Monday that the film, “The Place Beyond the Pines” will shoot scenes this year.  In the mean time, the website Movieweb has posted that filming will begin this summer, but since Rittner helps production companies find shooting locations, my money is on him as far as knowing the timeline for when shooting begins.

The movie is supposedly about two troubled brothers who live in the city.  Another rumor was circulating that Bradley Cooper (star of "The Hangover 2") could be also starring in the movie.  Movieweb also contradicts that plot by claiming that the movie is really about a guy with a double life as a motorcycle racer/bank robber.

Good for Schenectady!  It's pretty exciting having big Hollywood names coming to the Capital Region, especially for movies that we can see on the big screen and see how different or similar that particular city looks compared to real life.
