Hurricane Harvey has devastated parts of Texas and even though it is a tropical storm, the rain is relentless and the flooding catastrophic. My college friend, Ruth lives in Houston and she and her family are trying to stay positive under these extreme circumstances. There is something we can all do to help. This is just some of the rising water that residents are dealing with in the Houston area. This was taken a couple of days ago.

When speaking to my friend, Ruth, she said she heard something that could put it in perspective for our WGNA audience. She said to imagine an area the size of Delaware, with twice as many people that live in Manhattan and all under water. That, she said, is Houston.

Ruth and her family are luckier than most of their neighbors in that they are at higher ground and still have some power. They hope that you keep their friends, neighbors and the great people of Houston in your prayers and help any way you can.
