Four Colonie Businesses were Shot Up Over the Weekend, Arrest Made
Somebody went on a shooting spree early Saturday morning that damaged at least four different businesses along Route 9 in Latham. Colonie Police say it happened between 2 and 3 am on April 30th. All of the businesses were closed at the time.
The establishments that were shot are as follows:
Uncle Sam's Natural Health Foods
Located at 648 Loudon Road, in the Siena Square strip mall next to Fresh Market.
Latham Billiards
In the same strip mall as Uncle Sam's.
Gulf/Mobil
484 Loudon Rd
New Country Lexus
999 Loudon Rd.
Police said the shooter entered at least one of the locations and began randomly shooting up the inside.
At least two different guns were used in the shootings, a .22 caliber handgun:
The other weapon was a 7.62 caliber rifle:
Police were able to identify the shooter as 23 year old Christopher Huck of Bolton Landing. He was located on Sunday and arrested.
Colonie Police believe Huck fired at least 20 rounds in his shooting spree along Route 9. They don't know what his motivation was, but say the individual businesses did not appear to be specifically targeted by Huck, everything seems random. There were no reports of any injuries.
The weapons recovered apparently belonged to a relative of Huck's, who was not aware they were taken.
The investigation is ongoing and police do not yet know what Huck's motive for the shootings were. They are asking anyone who may have information on Huck or perhaps saw something that night to please contact them. Information can be submitted anonymously via capitalregioncrimestoppers.com.
Huck is facing at least four felony counts including burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, and criminal use of a firearm. Police say more charges could be coming. Huck is being held at Albany County Jail pending bail.
