Fifth Capital Region Chick-fil-a Could Be One Step Closer
Just when we thought the building of the next Chick-fil-a wouldn't happen, it looks like we are one step closer to getting our fifth in the Capital Region.
Chick-fil-A hopes to build another location at 579 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham, just outside of Latham Farms. It is where the old Brick House Tavern and Tap used to be. But there was a lot of resistance from the residents because of the traffic flow.

The new Chick-fil-A would be a bit smaller than the old Brick House (5,000 square feet vs. 9,800), but with a much faster-paced setup. There will be a double-lane drive-thru, outdoor seating, better parking, upgraded lighting, and landscaping that’s easier on the environment. They’re also planning some weather-protected canopies so workers and customers can stay dry during unpredictable Upstate New York weather.
According to CBS6, Engineering firm Bohler Engineering submitted the project plans to the Colonie Planning Board, and Chick-fil-A will be back in front of the board again on April 22nd. They’re hoping to get a few waivers and variances approved, mainly for the drive-thru layout, a second menu board, and the canopies.
Once all the red tape is cleared, construction is expected to take around six months from start to finish.
