Local Bus Driver Accused of Driving Drunk With Students on Board
Police say a bus driver is being accused of driving drunk while driving children home from school. The bus driver was arrested in Cobleskill, according to News 10.
According to a story from News 10, yesterday police in Cobleskill arrested 42-year-old Daniel Mowers, of Delhi for Felony DWI, 12 counts of Felony Leandra’s Law, and 13 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor.
One of the children on the bus told their parents about the incident and the parents called the police, who responded to the Gilboa School Bus garage. Police found Mowers in the bus garage where he allegedly smelled of alcohol. There were no kids left on the bus.
Mowers then allegedly failed a sobriety test and was placed under arrest for being intoxicated while operating the school bus occupied by 13 students.
Mowers had a blood alcohol content of .12% at the police station, News 10 reported.
He was arraigned in the Town of Broome Court with bail set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Correction: An earlier version of this story reported Mowers as being a Cobleskill bus driver and had a photo of a Dafour bus, which was not the bus involved in the incident.
