Change All of the Area Codes in Your Phone with One App
After next week, we're not going to be "The 518" anymore, we'll include 838. That means you have to go through all of your contacts and add 518 to their number, who wants to do that? Thankfully, you can get help!
As Matty mentioned in his blog yesterday, as of next week we're going to be welcoming a new area code to the area. Since there will be two area codes, in order to dial out you're going to have to actually dial them. That means if you haven't been putting area codes in your phone, you're going to have to change all of your contacts. Who wants to do that?
Luckily, News10 ABC found two apps that you can use to do it for you. If you have an iPhone or other iOS device, search for the program Contacts Optimizer Pro and it's free! It will also delete duplicates, correct and format numbers, mass delete contacts you may no longer need, and more!
If you're a Droid user, you're looking for Number Fixer. It doesn't do as much as the iOS app but it does exactly what you need for this area code change. You'll have to start dialing the area code Saturday, August 19th so you should probably change your numbers sooner rather than later.
