Civitello's Italian Pastry Shop Has Temporarily Closed

Civitello's has been a staple in downtown Schenectady's Little Italy for over a century but it is temporarily closed. The bad news is that you can't get Civitello's delicious cannolis, Italian sandwiches, pizza, and more because it has closed. The good news is Civitello's is doing a much-needed renovation.

What Kinds of Renovations Is Civitello's Doing?

An overdue renovation is underway. Civitello's Italian Pastry Shop is updating its kitchen and cafe area. But they want the public's help to share memories of the pastry shop. They are hoping to collect old photos from over the years. They are asking to use #civitellosmemories. The third-generation owners said,

Our little shop could use some TLC. This brief hiatus will ensure that Civitello's continues to be a delightful destination for generations to come.

Civitello's Italian Pastry Shop opened in September 1921. Founded by Ralph Civitello he took over a former Italian pastry shop called Vittoria Cafe. Ralph was first generation immigrant directly from Alvignano, Italy. He arrived in 1911 when he was sixteen.
