Three Capital Region dogs are about to swap nap time for Super Bowl Sunday at the Puppy Bowl.

Caddie, Gazpacho, and Jodi from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society are heading to Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XXII, and it is a big moment for Capital Region shelter pets.

These three are not first-timers. They will compete as part of Team Oldies in the brand new Senior Dog Halftime Show. This matchup is all about heart experience and proving that a little gray fur can still bring championship energy. The shelter says it is a reminder that older dogs have just as much personality and love to give as any puppy.

The Puppy Bowl has always been about celebrating shelter animals of all ages. This year, that message is front and center. Senior dogs, special needs pets, and everyone in between are all treated like MVPs. It is less about who scores and more about showing how special each animal truly is.

Caddie, Gazpacho, and Jodi will not be the only Capital Region representatives. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society also sent seven feline cheerleaders along for the ride. Whether those cats decide to make an on-screen appearance is still unknown, but anyone familiar with cats knows they do things on their own schedule.

On a larger scale, Puppy Bowl XXII will feature 150 rescued dogs from 72 shelters across 36 states. It is one big feel-good reminder of how many amazing animals are waiting for homes.

If you want to watch and cheer them on, Puppy Bowl XXII airs February 8th at 2 p.m. You can catch it on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TBS, truTV, Max, and Discovery Plus.
