
How Do Capital Region Colleges & Universities Rank in The Country?
How do our colleges and universities stack up against others across the country?
Every fall, U.S. News & World Report puts out its Best Colleges rankings, and the latest list gives us a good look at how schools in the Capital Region stack up. With more than 1,700 colleges evaluated, it is always interesting to see which local campuses stand out.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy continues to make a name for itself, coming in at number 64 in the national rankings. RPI also earned recognition for its engineering programs, landing at number 35 on that list, and was highlighted among Best Value Schools.
The University at Albany also had a strong showing. The SUNY campus came in at number 127 nationally, and it placed well among public schools at number 63. UAlbany also received recognition for its value, which is always important for students and families trying to make the numbers work.
Russell Sage College, with campuses in both Albany and Troy, landed in the top 250 nationally and scored an impressive spot on the Best Value Schools list. Its nursing program was also ranked, giving the college another reason to celebrate.
In Saratoga Springs, Skidmore College stood out among national liberal arts schools, ranked number 37 in that category.
Union College in Schenectady was not far behind at number 44, showing the strength of smaller private colleges in the region.
And Siena University in Loudonville was the best among regional universities, ranked 16th in the North and 19th for value.
The Capital Region has no shortage of strong academic options.
