2006- At age 77, Grand Ole Opry legend Billy Walker is killed while driving a van back from a concert. Sadly, his wife and band members also perish in the accident.  Billy was best known for hits like 'Charlie's Shoes' and 'Cross The Brazos at Waco.'

1998- Garth Brooks' 'No Fences' becomes the first country album certified for shipments of 14 million copies.  The album features 'Friends In Low Places' and 'Unanswered Prayers.'

1994-John Berrys enjoys his first No. 1 with 'Your Love Amazes Me.'

1988- Kathy Mattea rolls to No. 1 in Billboard with 'Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses.'

1977- Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson go to No. 1 with 'Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love).'
