Billy Walker Killed, John Berry’s First No. 1 – Today In Country History

2006- At age 77, Grand Ole Opry legend Billy Walker is killed while driving a van back from a concert. Sadly, his wife and band members also perish in the accident. Billy was best known for hits like 'Charlie's Shoes' and 'Cross The Brazos at Waco.'
