Another Mechanicville Native Makes Us Proud [PHOTO]
I grew up in Mechanicville, a small town with a ton of pride. Anytime someone does well from Mechanicville, I like to highlight them and hope they get the recognition they deserve. This time, it's a linebacker for the UAlbany Great Danes. More times than not, if someone from Mechanicville is mentioned in the news, you can sure bet that I know their family. This is no different. A senior linebacker for the UAlbany Great Danes, Nate Hatalsky, was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week. It is quite an honor considering Nate was just a walk on his freshman year.
His mom, Tammy, as you can imagine is so proud of her son. You can find her at Bubbles diner in Mechanicville as a waitress. She is always proud but the family is very humble. She will talk about Nate but never brag. Always serving you with a smile.
Nate earned a spot as a walk on and has worked very hard. Before the start of this season, his senior year, Nate became the starting middle linebacker and his hard work paid off. He was given a scholarship for his senior season.
This Saturday night, the Great Danes take on Villanova at Casey Stadium in Albany. I will be there sitting with Nate's mom, Tammy, cheering on the purple and gold full of Mechanicville pride. Tickets are still available for the game. See you there!
