ADKS Get Their First Flakes as Temps Drop in Upstate New York
Topsy-Turvy October
The only thing predictable about Upstate New York weather in October is that it will likely be unpredictable.
Last week, Capital Region temperatures varied from the 30s and 40s in the early morning to the 60s and 70s in the late afternoon. This week, temperatures are only expected to be in the 50s, which could be a precursor to what's coming.

Parts of New York Got Sizable Amounts of Snow
Some parts of New York have already seen their first snow this week. A Facebook post from the Mirror Lake Inn, about 2 hours north of Albany, showed at least a few inches of the white stuff, with colder temperatures expected this week.

In Saranac Lake, Fox News weather cameras caught the first snow of the season that blanketed parts of the Adirondacks.
October Snow in Albany
While seeing a few October flakes in Upstate NY is expected, a sizable storm is rare. According to Spectrum Local News, of the 140 or so years on record, measurable snowfall in Albany has occurred in 14 of them, the last being in 2016.
