The coronavirus pandemic has put many people out of work. There is a proposal in Saratoga County that could bring in a big facility that could hire up to twenty-five hundred people in the Capital Region.  There is a proposal that will bring thousands of jobs to Malta. Another area is being developed. According to News Channel 13, a developer is hoping to build on two hundred forty-five acres available in Luther Forest Tech Campus.

The company, Scannell Properties have put in paperwork to change some zoning around to develop land and then turn it into twenty-five hundred or more new jobs. The company is known for building large centers like General Mills, Alcoa, and FedEx. Scannell Properties just finished building the Amazon Distribution Center in Schodack.

There is still no word on what facility they will be building and which large company would be occupying the space. They will be definitely building in Luther Forest Tech Campus in Malta. According to the town board and the application, Scannell Properties hopes to build five buildings that will total two million square feet.

There is no time frame that has been given on when the project would begin or be completed, but whenever that may be, I am sure it will be a welcome addition to that area. Bringing in over twenty-five hundred jobs to Saratoga County will be needed especially in these times.
