There are very few television shows as iconic as The X-Files. The serialized thriller followed FBI agents Mulder and Scully as they investigated the paranormal, extraterrestrial, and odd across the United States.

Despite coming to an end in 2002 (or 2018 if you want to get into semantics), the fandom has lived on, and one group in Upstate New York is doing everything they can to ensure you keep believing.

The X-Files Museum

Opened in early 2022, the X-Files Preservation Collection started as a private collection by Jim Thornton and Kelly Anthony that blossomed into the first and only museum displaying the television show. It's located just off Route 50 in Saratoga Springs, just a short drive north of the state's Capital.

While this is a private collection, and not sponsored by FOX (the channel that ran the program), it has had a considerable amount of help from the show's creator, Chris Carter, who's donated a significant amount of show history.

What Can You Expect to See?

The museum is chock-full of props, costumes, scripts, and sets from the original series, from Alien Cryo-Pods, to the genuine "I WANT TO BELIEVE" poster. Some of these were personally collected by the owners, while some were brought in by Carter himself, who is a huge fan of the project.

The museum is open Thursday through Tuesday from 11 to 5. Tickets for entry during regular hours are $18,  while tickets for Virtual Tours and After-Hours Tours bump up to $25. Children ages eight and under get in free. So if you want to see the truth, just take a drive up Route 50 to Saratoga Springs and begin to believe...
