Cemetery workers made a disturbing find Monday while doing some maintenance on the grounds; human remains buried at an unmarked grave site.

According to sources, police in Elmira, New York (which is about two and a half hours southwest of Albany), were called to Woodlawn Cemetery after staff, doing their everyday duties, uncovered what appeared to be human remains that were buried at an unmarked grave site.

"Investigators determined the remains were of human origin, however preliminary findings indicated this is an isolated incident and that the burial of the remains probably dates back several years." Star Gazette

Woodlawn Cemetery is in Elmira, New York, United States. Its most famous burials are those of Mark Twain and his wife Olivia Langdon Clemens. Many members of the United States Congress, including Jacob Sloat Fassett, are also buried there.
