Woman Lands In NY Jail at Canadian Border! What Was She Hiding?
If you are planning a trip to Canada you should be aware that there are certain things that you are allowed to bring into their country and certain things that are not allowed to cross the border.
Recently a woman was stopped at the Canadian border in New York State and, as is customary, she was asked if she had anything to declare before proceeding. According to Syracuse.com, the woman declared that she had $15,000 but she left out a couple of BIG details. Omissions big enough the the woman has since been arrested.
According to the Government of Canada, certain goods are not allowed to be imported into Canada. This includes a variety of items from hate propaganda to used mattresses. This woman wasn't attempting to import anything illegal and we already know she declared the $15K. So what did she leave out?
New York State Police report that Nuzket Z. Hkan, a 45-year-old from Jersey City, New Jersey was attempting to enter Canada on Thursday August 25th. Yes, she declared the money but not all of the money. Allegedly she had an additional $200,000 or more stashed in the vehicle. But wait! There's more!
Hkan also forgot to mention that she is a fugitive from justice out of New Jersey. Her warrant came from a charge of possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. It appears Canada would like to have known that.
Hkan was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Champlain Court. She was remanded to Clinton County Jail awaiting extradition.
