There have been a couple of stories in the news of kids who found money and returned it. It ran the gamut too from a quarter to $2000. I really hope that if Ryan is faced with these dilemmas, we have raised him to do the right thing. There was a story of a six year old who found a burlap bag near his school containing $2000 and returned it to its owner after taking it to his dad. It's a great story. Then there were the two kids (5 and 7) caught on surveillance who found a quarter outside of a neighbor's house and debated on returning it to her. They also did the right thing.

Every time these situations arise, I think back to my childhood and remember that I was that kid. Even now at my age, I always try to do the right thing especially if I find money. I credit that back to my parents. It was more that I was scared to death to not do the right thing.

We don't want to scare Ryan into doing the right thing, we just try to lead by example. As a parent, isn't that what we all hope for?
